Today we’re going to talk about the connection between the constant force/tape spring and the tilting double or single hung window.

As we know, hung windows feature a balanced application to counteract the weight of the sash, allowing the user to position the sash at the desired opening height. The balanced application also enables users to open and close windows with minimal effort.

Actually, the constant force/tape spring is a somewhat hidden component sitting inside the window frame of the tilting double or single hung window, it is the balanced application, sometimes called a sash balance, window spring, or window “balancer”.

Window balances are only found in double-hung or single windows and counterbalance the weight of the sash assisting you with opening and closing your windows. If your window balances are damaged or broken, your window may be difficult to open, not open at all, or may not stay open.

Qianye Springs (Qianye Precision Spring Technology Co., Ltd) provide the high-quality constant force/tape springs. All our springs are made of 301 stainless steel which ensure the springs are durable and long-lasting.

A constant torque spring motor is a strip of prestressed spring material that forms a coil and is stored on a small storage drum. The free end is then pinned and rewound onto the larger output drum; this is the "winding" part of the constant torque spring cycle. When the output drum is released, the spring will return to the...
