Why choose to use high cycle torsion springs

Garage doors use high cycle torsion springs for lifetime use It is important to ensure that the garage doors are in proper working order. Improving the cycle life of garage door torsion springs is an effective way to ensure a longer garage door life. A standard torsion spring has a service life of approximately 10,000 cycles, which equates to approximately 7 years of daily use. Increasing the cycle life of your torsion spring will not only reduce the chance of damage or damage, it will also prevent you from having to replace it sooner than expected.

Correct Garage Door Torsion Spring Specifications for Protecting Doors

Replacing the torsion spring with the proper size, too big or too small, will balance the door and make it secure again. The door lifts effortlessly and stays securely in place. A garage door opener may also need to be replaced if it is damaged by an oversized or undersized spring.

How do I know what size torsion spring I need?

This is a question we often hear from our clients, and fortunately, the answer is easy to find. You can use the correct existing spring to size your torsion spring in four easy steps:
Find out if the wind from the spring is blowing to the left or to the right. If you spin counterclockwise, you spin left, and if you spin clockwise, you spin right.

Measure 10 or 20 coils and find the correct length that corresponds to the number on the chart.

Measure the inside diameter of the spring.

Measure the overall length of the spring.

Using this method, you can determine the correct torsion spring size and order a replacement. When you order torsion springs, have all three measurements and wind directions ready.

How does length affect torsion springs?

The force of the torsion spring is measured using half the length of the leg – the longer the force acting on the leg, the less force the torsion spring will transmit.

Another thing to consider is that if your garage or overhead door is currently using extension springs, we can help you convert the extension springs to torsion springs. If you have any needs, please feel free to contact us.
