Custom springs for medical devices

source:Qianye Precision time:2022-9-14
For most of the past two decades, the medical device industry has been booming. Healthcare research has led to the rapid expansion of specific devices used to treat medical needs, from rare to common. These devices range from simple to surprisingly complex, often including automatic sensors, computer monitoring, and even remote monitoring by healthcare providers.

When you are designing for a new medical device, it is essential to consider the components you must put together and the system they will create. This means breaking down your design to a level where you can visualize the components that need to go into the project. This means designing each spring assembly individually after evaluating the available options.

To help you solve this problem, here are the four most commonly used springs for medical devices and their current common applications.

   Constant force springs
Constant force springs provide a smooth range of motion and a constant load in either extending or retracting direction. This spring design has no inertia to overcome when considering the initial position forces. Constant force springs are compact and mount easily to existing hardware. These types of springs can eliminate the need for costly and complicated motors, thus decreasing device size and cost.
  Spiral torsion springs
Spiral torsion springs are normally used in applications requiring less than 360 degrees of rotation. They are generally used to obtain a large amount of torque through a small amount of rotation. Spiral torsion springs allow for rotation in two directions and a “return to center” capability, like a dental X-ray head unit.
  Spring reels
Spring powered reels (arbor and base mounted) are available with a wide range of forces, cable lengths, and travel. Spring powered reels mount easily, come with pre-installed cables, and attach quickly.
  Custom mechanical assemblies
Spring sub-assemblies may call for the use of components consisting of a variety of materials (molded plastic, machined metal, rubber). We frequently are able to not only produce the specialty spring, but we can also assemble the spring and various customer designated or customer supplied additional parts into a completed sub-assembly.

Our components are frequently used in the following medical applications and devices:
  • Table and bed lift mechanisms
  • Computer monitors in fixed and mobile applications
  • MRI and X-ray devices
  • Dental X-Ray equipment with articulated arms
  • Medical equipment drawer closing mechanisms
  • Surgical staplers
Engineers from Shenzhen Qianye Precision Metal Co., Ltd. can help improve your medical equipment, and look forward to discussing your spring requirements, including any equipment balance challenges. Our quality assurance team tests at every stage of manufacturing to ensure that customer requirements are met. We provide excellent customer service throughout the manufacturing process. We are not just spring manufacturers; We are your partner.

Dampers are widely used in building structures to dissipate energy and reduce vibration. However, the traditional damper has complex structure, poor durability and corrosion resistance, and low working stability. After using for a period of time, the damper is prone to aging and deformation can not be restored, so it can not be used anymore. Most of the existing dampers...

Traditional power springs and preloaded springs
Traditional power springs and preloaded springs

Time:2022-9-14

Traditional power springs and preloaded power springs are fabricated from spring steel bars to provide torque. Spring steel is a low alloy, medium carbon steel or high carbon steel with a very high yield strength. Objects made of spring steel can return to their original shape despite significant bending or twisting. Power springs use flat (unstressed) steel windings, while...
